Day 1 – Le Crotoy
We start our adventure today by leaving the New Year meet with the Essex group of the MCC. We serviced the van this morning and filled the fresh water tank as we will not be sure when we will be able to get any more.
We left before our planned 10 am set off time and made good progress. The dartford crossing bridge was not closed much to my relief. With no congestion we sailed through and travelled on to Folkstone for Eurotunnel. First problem encountered was that the dogs had not been booked on the outward trip. They were talking of charging us an additional £32 for the privilege even though they do nothing. We were asked to visit Customer Services and then changed the ticket to one way and added the dogs…. No extra money was needed. Result!
Got the train about 90 minutes earlier than booked. On reaching France we then had a vehicle break down about 6 vehicles in front of us. I suppose it took about 20 mins to get the car started again and we were on our way.
We went straight round to Auchan and had a late lunch. We were the only people in the restaurant. After getting some few essentials and filling the fuel tank with diesel we set off for our planned overnight stop. On getting to Nouvion en Porthieu it was a public car park with no dedicated spaces for Motorhomes so a quick search on the ipad we decided to go to Le Crotoy.
A large car park with views towards the town the aire has approx 20 vans here.
Covered approx 60 miles from Calais to get here. Moving on tomorrow.
