Day 6 – Palencia
Today our plans changed a number of times. We needed some provisions so needed to find a supermarket. It doesn\’t seem to work like France here in Spain as there are no major signs to follow and no out of town areas that we found.
We headed toward Briviesca which we found to be at the top of the town right next to a sports stadium. The only obvious supermarket was back in the centre of town where we would have had difficulty parking so we decided to move on. Our next location was chosen to be Burgos. We finally found a shopping centre with an adjacent car park and the supermarket seemed to be associated with Auchan, the French chain of supermarkets. Here we stocked up on a few essentials including our annual look at the crockery.
After leaving the store we made our way to the Aire which turned out to be a car park where we would needed to have purchased a ticket but unsure for how long….it seemed to indicate a maximum stay of 2 hours. We decided to move on again and programmed the sat nav for Palencia.
Arrived just as the sun was going down and only a small number of dedicated spaces for Motorhomes left in this busy car park mixed with other vehicles. In the end there were 19 stayed over night. There wax a park but dogs were not allowed. Found out in the morning that there was a walk along the river a short distance from the entrance.
In the morning we met another English couple from Suffolk who had an Autosleeper. They were also making there way to Caceres just like us and then on to Portugal. They left just before us.
We travelled 336 km to get to Palencia …. More than we had planned.
