Day 19 – Marrakesh second day

We had a leisurely morning and did not get up until late. Tina did some cleaning up and I updated our web site with some photos etc.
We joined the others at 1pm to catch a mini-bus into the city. How the driver misses the bikes, scooters and cars I have no idea. There is definately a technique to driving in this city. We were dropped off outside of the main square and then wandered into this busy space. There were the snake charmers and assortment of other folk doing things.
Ken, Lynda, Tina and I then had coffee at the top of a restaurant over looking the square. Then we decided to explore the Souks….the narrow market stalls with all sorts of things to by. Everyone of the stall holders asking you in to inspect their goods in various forms of broken english. We wandered aimlessly around for a couple of hours and towards the end we were constantly asking the way back to the main square. It would be so easy to get lost. We did find ourselves going around in a circle at one point.
At around 4:30 pm we decided that we would not try and come back for the evening but instead have a meal before the bus picked us up at 5:40pm. We finished our Chicken Tagine with about 10 mins to spare before the bus brought us back.
Getting off the bus we were directed to the site’s gift shop where Tina finally spotted a handbag she had been searching for al afternoon. After some haggling of the price from a starting point of 400dh down to a finally agreed price of 250dh Tina walked off back to the van with her bag.
Both of us are now exhausted after all of the walking and will most probably have an early night. Leaving site tomorrow but yet to decide where next. Sleep will clear the brain.
