Day 49 – Marrakesh

t continued to rain throughout the night but had stopped by day break. The site was showing some signs with puddles. I once agin got clay stuck to my shoes when I went to retrieve the electric cable.
The trip today was not a long one … just over 100 miles. However, we were going to go up and down mountains for most of the way. The journey was eventful at one point when we came across  a small car which had hit something and now had its from t left all stove in and sitting in a ditch on a narrow part of the mountain road. Trucks, coaches and cars were having to inch past. Some trucks were parked up a short distance down from the accident. The drivers were out of their cabs and praying on their pray mats. You wouldn’t see that in the UK.
Eventually after some 5 hours we arrived at a supermarket. We hadn’t done any shopping at a large store for a few weeks so it was good to stock up. Tina was able to get her yoghurt for breakfast which had run out a couple of days ago.
Our next port of call was the campsite we had used last year. It had the area we used cordoned off as the Desert Detours party are due in tomorrow. It is quite busy and we are put into place and now hooked up so a nice hot shower is on the cards for the morning.
It wasn’t long before we were asked if we needed any meals delivered, Taxi rides in to town or the van washing in the morning. It looks like we will have the van washed as its absolutely covered in red mud from the days drive. We are also going into town to the medina / souk and have a meal in the square tomorrow evening. Looking forward to that. The rest of the day will be taken up with cleaning the interior of the van as its caked in mud and sand is everywhere. Happy days… at least its stopped raining and the temperatures are due to improve by the weekend.
