Day 22 Algeciras

Slightly slower start this morning as we have only a few miles to travel around to Algeciras. Tina complained that the wind through the boats rigging was making noises that kept disturbing her. It didn\’t disturb me if anything I had a really good nights rest.

Around 10:30 we drove round to the service point and filled with fresh water etc as this was the last time we would be in Europe for a while. We had never stayed in the port parking area before and encountered a problem exiting. Tina went and paid the overnight fees and then we drove up to the barrier. She presented the ticket and the barrier raised but as soon as this happened 2 cyclist round through the gap and triggered the barrier to fall. We ended up calling for assistance to open the barrier to let us out.

Now we travelled around to the infamous Carlos ticket agency to buy our ticket for the crossing tomorrow. The process was easy if not more expensive than in 2016 when we last went to Morocco. Now a quick reposition over by the Mercadona supermarket where we had been 7 years ago. After completing the shopping we went up the road and found the gas station and toped of our LPG tank. It took all of €2.20 before the pump stopped. During the recent days we have been on electric hookup and not been using any gas. Result!!

We spent much of the afternoon chatting to our new travelling companions, Eric & Annie, who happen to live in the Bournemouth area so we were able to chat about where we lived etc.

Waking early tomorrow for the 10:30am boat so need to be at the port at least an hour before.
