Day 29 Oualidia

We were not enjoying an Electric hookup last night as we were on a Guardian Parking area. What this means is we don\’t have electric for hot water in the morning but more importantly we don\’t have electric heating at night. We could use the precious gas but we were fine throughout the night… it was just getting up this morning to a much colder van than we have enjoyed in recent days.

We decided to visit the town which necessitated walking up a long steep hill. I was not going to attempt. So mid morning we were going to find a taxi to take us uo the hill but Ali happened to come by. Tina immediately asked for a beef Tagine for this evening. He offered to go home to collect his small car and take us up the hill. We didn\’t have to wait long and he turned up in his very old Renault 5. I only just managed to fit in the front but it was an experience.

We met our companions in a cafe, as arranged, at the top of the hill. We ordered coffee and watched as the locals went about their business. We bought some essentials like bread and bananas and I looked for some recharges for the internet. I had burned through 10gb since yesterday playing a game on my iPad. I have now removed the game. I had been enjoying the challenge.

We took a very slow walk down the hill and enjoyed the views. It was painful to walk at the end but I thought I couldn\’t have done that back in the UK with the colder weather.

Relaxing afternoon and then Ali came with our Beef Tagine. The meat was so tender. it was fantastic. Tina decided we need another cake which is to be delivered this evening.

Off to Safi tomorrow which is a comparatively short distance to drive.
