Day 33 Marrakesh
Our plans today was for a trip into the city. We had booked a taxi to take all four of us to the main square. I retrieved the mobility scooter out from under the bed and we proceeded to the main entrance. The scooter and ourselves were soon on our way into the city which was about 20-30 mins away. We arrived at around noon.
We arranged for the taxi driver to collect us at 4pm. We strolled through the square and found a table in a cafe on the edge of the square and had 4 coffees served. We decided that we would separate from our friends as they wanted to see so much more than us and we were somewhat slower than them. We were going to meet at the taxi meeting place.
We decided to risk walking into the souk and try and remember the way out. It is so easy to lose where you are and walk in circles as we had done many years before. Tina spied some things she wanted to take home and we started the game of bartering. It is expected that we should try and haggle for a better price and often the eventual price isn lower than 50% of the starting price.
At around 2pm we exited the souk and found a restaurant and ordered some lunch together with fresh orange juice. At 90MAD it was not expensive. After eating we strolled again along some more streets then sat again at a different restaurant and had English tea.
We were back at the meeting place at 3:45pm and the taxi driver soon beckoned over to him. Our friends turned up with a few minutes to spare.
It was a tiring day but enjoyable. Tomorrow we will relax and recover from the exertions
