Day 23 Caudate de M’semrir second day

We spent a very comfortable night due mainly because we are connected to electric and we were able to have the heating on all night.

It has been a very relaxing day. Rkia has attended the equivalent to a hen party for a local Berber wedding. All the invited women get together and have food and dancing and have a party. However, recently there was an accident with a minibus where an adult and a child were killed so the festivities were constrained on this occasion.

Whilst she was out we had a chicken Tagine followed by fruit. We sat round the table and chatted. Moha is very knowledgeable about many subjects and is aware of the history of the region and the countries locally. Loved to hear about why we have reached certain points in the past.

Our supper was soup and boiled eggs. The soup that Rkia makes is delicious and can’t help myself indulging in several bowls with some bread. I watched as she was making the soup and washing the pots in her kitchen which is nothing like a European kitchen but she treats us to lovely food with the tools she has e.g. a 2 burner LPG stove. Moha obtained a replacement 13kg bottle and he said it was 45MAD (just under £4). I explained that the UK price for that replacement would have been approximately £35.

The photo is Rkia with Yanis on her back in the kitchen.
