Day 2 – Bessines Sur Gartempes

Our destination today was Bessines Sur Gartempes. This turned out to be a small square in a pretty village. Later in the evening we discovered that the French vans had connected up to electric so it was only right that we should do the same. After hunting around in the packed garage I found the French adaptor for the electric lead so that we could plug in to the household style connection.
Last night must have been one of the windiest nights I have ever known. The van rocked all night even though it was fully loaded…. Some would say overloaded as we have all the dog food, tinned baked beans etc we are likely yo need together with full water and fuel tanks. We arrived in the dark so in the morning we got a better idea of how big the site was. It must be capable of taking around 100 vans in the summer.
On a travels down we encountered more wind and torrential rain. The drivers wiper was not clearing the water well in my eyeliner so it was making driving more difficult. At points along the journey the sun came out and was very bright. A complete mixture of weather on this journey of 560 km.
Definitely like to come back to this spot and maybe spend a little longer. I was able to connect to SFR Fon using my BT internet credentials. First time I gave attempted to do this in France. Success!! I was able to get a few emails done and also research the settings I needed for the IPhone to work on Toggle mobile. Another success…. What a result…. Now I don\’t feel so cut off from the family and friends.
A shorter journey tomorrow as we are ahead of schedule
