Day 20 – La Spezia

Our day for moving on so we needed to service the van and have that last constant flowing hot shower before we set of to meet out friends Colin & Christina. They live in New Zealand but have been touring Europe for quite a while. Colin is a kiwi whilst Christina has a very strong Scottish accent.
We left site at around 10:00am and made good progress on the 336km drive. I chose to use Toll motorways so that I was not driving for many more hours than needed. We arrived at around 3pm. The tolls cost us €45 which hurts when we normally try and avoid them as we are rarely in a rush.
When we arrived Colin had gone off to find a bar televising the Grand Prix. We sat outside and caught up on the gossip with Christina before Colin returned.
Our plan tomorrow is to go and spend a day or so at Pisa and see the leaning tower. this may well be followed by a trip to Florence and then on to Rome. For us it will be where we part as we will start the journey home whilst Colin & Christina will continue south to Naples and beyond
