Day 32 Marrakesh

We left site this morning to take the 200k journey to Marrakesh at around 11am. We had retraced our steps back to Essaouira before picking up the main route through to our destination. We were battling against quite a fierce wind and Tina pointed out that our roof vent was chatting and we were concerned it might break free and fly off. I thought that once we had come away from the coast it would settle down. About 30mins into our 3 hour trip I stopped to check that all was well with the roof vent. It seemed to be OK even though the \”chattering\” continued. Fortunately nothing happened.

On the journey we did see goats in trees and our companions stopped to take photos. As always we were encouraged to give some money for the privilege but Annie didn\’t have any coins with her.

We drove through countless villages / towns that were going about their business. Its fascinating to see what people do to survive.

Our Sat Navs were tasked with finding a large supermarket which we did around 2pm. Walking around a strange supermarket not understanding the signage nor the item packaging becomes quite a challenge. Eventually we exited with a few items and headed for the fuel station where we filled with cheaper diesel.

Next we had agreed that I would lead us to the campsite so as to avoid the city centre which is what Erics TomTom wanted to do. However Eric did lead us and we did drive directly past the souk and into all the traffic. How the small moped / motorbike riders  don\’t get knocked off or even ride into each other amazes me. We finally mad it to the campsite which hasn\’t changed much since we were last here some 8 or 9 years ago.

We plan to get a taxi into the city in the morning and visit the famous square and the souk.
