Day 35 Agadir

This morning we are driving down to Agadir and visiting the garage we have spent many days at in the past. Unfortunately Mustafa has passed on since we last visited in 2016 and we understand his son now runs the business. As it is already a 3 hour journey we plan to use the toll roads which cost us 130MAD (approx €12.50) which is cheap for a 130 mile stretch of road.

Our aim is to get a few things fixed. Our decorative panel on the side sliding door is coming away from the metal so I am hoping that they can make a more permanent job of keeping it attached. Also the grab handle has also pulled away from the fixing screws. Both these problems existed before we left the UK. Eric is looking to have a \”peak\” attached above his windscreen to keep the sun out whilst driving he also wants the sliding netting screen to be fixed as it has fallen apart and is not working at all.

We serviced the vans fully as we are not sure how long we might be wanted by the garage. We left at around 11am and arrived outside the garage at around 2:30pm. Unfortunately all signage of the previous business has gone. I walked into the alley to try and find the son. He agreed to fixing the issues with our van and set to with fixing the grab handle and siliconing the panel. Once complete we were not allowed to open the door for an hour. We have left it all evening and plan to leave it until the morning before opening the sliding door. Eric was not able to get his \”peak\” and after some attempts to remove the fly screen they admitted defeat and said they couldn\’t do it and charged him nothing.

We now drove round to the parking next to the local college where we had parked some years ago. It was still being used and there were a couple of vans already in place for the night. Our plan for the rest of the afternoon was to get a taxi to the Souk but in the end Eric & Annie walked and we returned to the van and read our books.

One or two more vans joined us at the free parking. So where we thought that Agadir was going to be a few nights stop it will be only one night because we are off to Tiznit in the morning.
