Day 4 – Vitoria-Gasteiz

Long drive today using toll roads and motorways. We covered 249 miles after starting out at 10:15 having fully serviced the vans. Got soaked as the tap was one of the push in buttons and no pressure so had to decide which end to hold. Got it wrong and the van end came out covering me with water. Ha ha I hear you laugh… I was swearing under my breath.
We had a lunch break of about an hour and arrived at the site at 16:20. The area we stayed in is in the corner of a large car park in a residential part of town. I am surprised at the fuel cost. We paid €1 a litre in France and have paid €0.98 here in Spain. This equates to £0.74 per litre. I understand that locally in Andover it is still £1.04…. What a difference.
We had a walk in the early evening to look for a supermarket but later found out that it was epiphany day….a bank holiday in Spain and the shops were shut. Spoke to an English couple on their way home and they said how busy The Algarve was over Christmas and New Year. Let\’s hope that all the French have decided to go to Portugal again this year instead of Morocco.
We hope to push on again tomorrow with yet another long drive so that we will make the southern coast by Friday night.
